I really have to try everything... Long waiting on my to-do-list: making soap. However, I didn't want to use lye, so it remained a wish. But I found a recipe on Pinterest the other day, which used curd soap as basis. The bar of soap is grated, melted together with some bees wax in a double boiler, then you add some honey, a bit of olive oil and distilled water. I poured the liquid soap into a silicone mould and put it in the fridge overnight.
Et voilà - the soap is ready.
The good thing about this recipe is that it is really uncomplicated and I had all the ingredients at home.
I store the bits in a big shell which I also use as soap dish.
Also a nice gift idea - the soap, not the shell (but why not) ;-)
